Irangreenvoice – In a letter to the head of the Iranian judiciary, 175 members of the Iranian parliament have requested immediate action against the so called “head of sedition” or otherwise known as Green Movement leaders.
The MPs have also expressed their dismay over the judiciary’s recent legal action against number of pro-government publications following lawsuits against hem, and have said that such complaints should not have been pursued any way.
The letter to the head of the judiciary was read today by conservative MP Hasan Ghafouri Fard in the Iranian Parliament (Majlis).
In the letter signed by 175 MPs, Majlis members criticised the trial of the radical managing editor of hard-line paper Kayhan and the managers of radical pro-government news agencies IRNA and Fars News following complaints by the “heads of sedition.”
They also call for “accelerating” the investigation of “complaints against the opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mahdi Karroubi.
The MPs also state that the “heads of the sedition” have no regard for the judicial system in Iran and have attacked Karroubi and Mousavi for their recent remarks against the sudden and unjust execution of five political activists on charges of terrorism.
Recently, Tehran’s chief prosecutor referred to these remarks as “crimes” and attempts to “spread lies.” He added that when the time came, the judiciary would prosecute the leaders of the Green Movement too.
