The Islamic Iran Participation Front (reformist) issued a statement regarding the events of last year’s month of Khordaad (June). In this statement, the Participation Front says that the reform movement was established based on necessities such as freedom of elections and the fact that people’s votes must be the determining factor in making the decision and in other words the reform movement was after the basic ideas of the revolution in the new time.
The Participation Front adds that the reform movement was an attempt to fix the behaviours arising from the narcissism, despotism and fundamentalism that had shaped. The Participation Front continues that the Green movement was a continuation of this attempt and people with the hope of continuing the reform path came to polling stations with all their might and created a great showdown, which was too bitter for the ruling authoritarian power and therefore led to its confrontations with the people.
The Participation Front condemns the government’s attacks on people’s freedom, security and dignity in the name of religion and by using all the government’s official and unofficial power and denounces its accusations against people, scholars, artists and politicians who took part in the peaceful demonstration of millions of protestors on last years Khordad 25 (June 15).
At the end of its statement the Participation Front warns that the country’s assets are being wasted and that the country is in crisis in every aspect; and the only way out of this crisis is to completely execute the constitution and for the government to recognize people’s demands for reviving their rights, free gatherings, parties, press and elections.
