Radio Zamaneh – Omidvar Rezai, member of Iranian Parliament’s executive committee announced that speaker of the Parliament Ali Larijani has issued a warning to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad regarding the government’s failure to deliver its new laws to the House.
Khabar online reports that since the beginning of Iranian New Year in March, the government has not informed the Parliament of its new laws.
The committee of Government Acts Review gave an official warning to the administration to heed the 138 Article of the constitution which demands that all government Acts must be reviewed by the parliament to assure correspondence with the law. The committee is comprised of representatives from the parliament as well as the government and the judiciary.
Rezai maintains that the government is “making excuses” to delay the process. He adds that the executive committee of the Parliament “ prefers to work in mutual understanding with the government but if the government refuses to carry out Article 138 of the constitution, the Parliament will have to make use of its legal powers.”
“Warning, questioning, impeaching and putting the adequacy of the president to a vote” are amongst the powers of the Parliament.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad administration has been in constant dispute with the Parliament in the past year and his refusal to carry out a number of approved parliamentary acts has made speaker of the Parliament and other members accuse him of being in violation of the law.
