August 17, 2010 – In a letter to the Prosecutor General, Jafari Dowlatabadi, some of the political prisoners of Gohardasht Prison wrote: “Mr. Prosecutor for time and again you are announcing that if we want freedom or even leave we must ask for a pardon…but you have received no answer other than silence from us.
The more we think, the less we see any reason for asking for a pardon. Should we repent because defenseless women and men who sought their rights were killed in the streets by fully armed agents? Or should we repent because you have made parents to mourn their children such as Neda, Sohrab and or because you have buried those you killed at night in unknown graves.
Should we repent and ask for pardon because our youths have been tortured and kept in Kahrizak or because you have forced the prisoners to confess as you wish them too? Let us warn you that we have no fear from prison and execution at the course of freedom of our homeland”.
