The imposed restrictions on Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi by security forces are increasing. According to recent reports, some members of the youth branch of the Etemad-Melli party (Chaired By Mehdi Karroubi) went to Mehdi Karroubi’s residence and wanted to visit him, but as soon as they arrived by his door, security forces prevented them from visiting and they were taken away and interrogated in the street.
Also, in the past few days the same scenario happened repeatedly, and as soon as political figures and activists went by Mehdi Karroubi’s residence to meet with him, they were confronted by security forces and prevented from visiting the Green leader. Those who protested these actions, were threatened to be arrested and taken to Evin prison!
In one of the incidents, when a former Minister of Oil during Khatami’s administration attempted to meet with Mehdi Karroubi, he also was prevented from entering Karroubi’s residence, and when he protested, the security forces were harshly insulting, threatened to arrest him and a vague piece of paper claiming to be from prosecutor’s office was shown to him in which it was stated that no one should be allowed to meet with Mehdi Karroubi and Mir Hossein Mousavi.
Also, there are reports that security forces have been stationed around Mir Hossein Mousavi’s office and confront and prevent anyone from visiting him. Those who attempt to meet with Mir Hossein Mousavi have been interrogated in the street and some have had to sign a written consent that they will not return!
These restrictions went so far that when Mohammad Reza Khatami, the brother of former president Seyyed Mohammad Khatami and senior member of the Participation Front, wanted to visit Mir Hossein Mousavi for Eid Al-Fitr, he was also prevented from meeting with him. The recent restrictions and unofficial siege of the Green Leader’s residences and offices has been intensifying since the five-night long brutal attacks by plain-clothed militias and Basij thugs on Mehdi Karruobi’s house during the holy month of Ramadan in which the pro-government thugs severely vandalized the building, opened fire and threatened to kill Mehdi Karroubi who had announced his will to participate in Qods Day rally.
