The Only Way Forward

نامه سحرخیز به دادستان تهران: به شکایتم از محسنی اژه‌ای رسیدگی کنید / Issa Saharkhiz says Ayatollah Khamenei must be “dismissed for failing to do justice to his position”

In a letter addressed to Abbas Jafari Dowlatabdi Tehran Prosecutor, detained Iranian journalist, Issa Saharkhiz called for the prosecution of Iran’s spokesman for the judiciary.

Kaleme reports that in his letter, Saharkhiz accuses spokesma for Iran’s judiciary Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, along with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, of “directly or indirectly perpetrating torture in Iranian prisons.”

Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei recently denied the existence of torture in Iranian prisons and told a press conference that the tortures described in Abdollah Momeni’s letter, a detained political activist who was detained in the post-election protests on 2009, were falsehoods.

Issa Saharkhiz maintains that he was “bitten by Mohseni Ejei” in a press conference six years ago for which he has filed a complaint which remains in legal limbo.

Saharakhiz writes that it is “highly unlikely” that an Islamic Republic court processes his complaints and thus feels that it is his right to pursue these complaints through international channels.

In his trial last July, Saharkhiz said that he wants to file another complaint against Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, for “his silence regarding torture of detainees in Iranian prisons.”

Saharkhiz who ran the Aftab monthly magazine prior to his arrest contends that he was severely tortured and beaten by the security forces on the day of his arrest.

He added that Ayatollah Khamenei must be “dismissed from his position for failing to do justice to his position.” He said: “Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has violated the constitution and all the principles and regulations of Velayat Faqih (leadership of an expert cleric) and has deviated from the path of justice, fairness and impartiality in the elections. He (Ayatollah Khamenei) has openly admitted that he prefers one candidate to the others and that his heart beats for this candidate’s victory.”

Saharkhiz claims that these actions of the Supreme Leader paved the way for the alleged fraud in the elections.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s victory in the 2009 presidential elections has been widely challenged in Iran and the opposition claims the results of the elections were engineered to secure Ahmadinejad’s re-election.
