The Only Way Forward

حمله شبانه 20 لباس شخصی به دفتر هیات امنای دانشگاه آزاد /Attack on Azad University offices by 20 plain-clothed militia in Iran

According to reports, yesterday at midnight a group of more than 20 plain clothes militia who were armed with weapons illegally entered the Office of Board of Trustees and Founders of Islamic Azad University and the office of the Center for Advanced Science and Technology.

According to reports these plain clothes militia used intimidation, threats, and even handcuffed the security personnel of these buildings, entered some of the offices of these buildings, vandalized them and took some documents, computers and other objects with them; still there is no accurate list of what exactly was confiscated in last night’s raid.  The illegal search and seizure lasted about 4 hours.

According to the statement by the Office of Board of Trustees and Founders of Islamic Azad University, these attacks were in continuation of the recent activities against the Islamic Azad University as well as the illegal changes made to the rules and introducing new members to the board of trustees [by Ahmadinejad administration] and also the illegal gatherings by plain clothes militia in front of various offices of the university in the past few days.

Islamic Azad University is country’s largest private chain of universities which has branches all over the country and was one of the projects initiated during Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani’s presidency.  Until recently Mehdi Hashemi-Rafsanjani, son of Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani, was the president of the university.  When Ahmadinejad came to power there have been some tensions between the university and the administration as the administration has tried to take control over this university.

Khameini Representative In IRGC Warns Rafsanjani

Memri – Mojtaba Zolnour, deputy representative of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), has warned Iranian Expediency Council chairman Hashemi Rafsanjani that his ignoring of his children Mehdi and Faezeh’s support for the protest movement will cause the public to act against him.

According to Zolnour, the regime is not arresting these “political corpses” – that is, the protest movement leaders – because they are in any event in prison and their jailors are the Iranian people.

مهدی هاشمی: جریانی هنگام گرفتار شدن به رسوایی‌های مكرر فساد اداری و اقتصادی و سیاسی علیه من موج‌آفرینی می‌كند /Mehdi Hashemi threatens to tell all

Mehdi Hashemi threatened to go public with information about those tarnishing his reputation.

In a statement, Mehdi Hashemi responded to rumors about a warrant being issued for his arrest: “Take into consideration that such rumors are flying around at a time when no court has passed a verdict. I have not offered any explanation and this shows a certain political faction’s attempts to pressure the Judiciary and use this instrument of justice to further their objectives. More interestingly, they believe that their actions are in line with strengthening the establishment and the Leadership.”

“It is unfortunate to see this [political] faction make such waves at a time when it has been struggling with countless administrative, economic and political scandals.”

“My rightful demand is that the Judiciary not allow such mudslinging, which tarnishes the reputation of [our] judicial system, and to consider the day when I lose patience and go public with the information I have.”

“I repeat once again that I am ready to have my case heard in a just court and I expect that my complaint against those who have used every means to assassinate my character and [that of] my family’s to be judged like everyone else.”
